Snapchat is known for its easy-to-use interface, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few hidden features that you may not be aware of. For example, did you know you can search Snapchat by email address?
If you’re trying to find someone on the app and don’t have their username, or if you just want to make your account more accessible to friends, here’s what you need to know.
If you go into Snapchat’s settings and scroll down to “find friends,” it will give you the option to sync up your contacts list with the app.
This will allow the app to match any phone numbers it finds in your contacts with a username so that you can add them as a friend without having to know who they are beyond their number.
But what if someone else wants to add you on Snapchat and doesn’t know who you are by username?
Well, if they have your email address listed in their contacts, then all they’ll have to do is search for your email address instead!
Snapchat has made this process even easier by providing users with an option to share their Snapcode via email.
How To Search Snapchat By Email Address
To find your friends on Snapchat, you can use their username or phone number to add them. You can also use an email address to search for someone in the Snapchat app.
To search Snapchat by email, you can only use the email account that is linked to your Snapchat account. If you have an old email address that you no longer use with your Snapchat account, you won’t be able to search for anyone using that address. You will have to add people as friends using their user names or phone number instead.
You can’t search Snapchat by email if the person you are looking for does not have an old or current email linked to his or her account.
The username search bar is the place to start your Snapchat friend search. However, there are some other ways to find new people on Snapchat:
Snapcodes: These are basically QR codes that allow you to quickly add friends by simply scanning their Snapcode using the Snapchat app. You can find a wide variety of Snapcodes online and even print them out if you want others to scan them to add you as a friend.
Email address: If someone else has your email address in their phone contacts list, then you’ll automatically be added as a friend on Snapchat.
Phone number: Similar to email addresses, if another user has your phone number saved on their phone, they may be added as a contact on Snapchat.
Add Nearby: This feature allows you to scan Snapcodes of other users who are nearby and have enabled the Add Nearby feature. However, this is not very popular on Snapchat and often doesn’t work properly due to proximity issues.
