How To Change Post Date on Instagram in 2024

The date that you see is actually the day that an image was added to Instagram. So if you take a picture on your phone and save it to your “Camera Roll” without posting it to Instagram, it will have a later post date than a picture that you took and posted immediately.

If you take a picture with your phone camera but then delete it from your camera roll, its post date will still be earlier than any pictures taken after it or pictures saved in your camera roll after it.

How To Change Post Date on Instagram?

No, it is not possible to change the post date on Instagram. If you upload a post with a date in the past, then it will show the original posting date. If you want to hide or delete this post, then go to your profile > click on 3 dots > Hide from profile/Delete.

If you want to change the posting time, then you can change your device’s timezone settings and the post will be uploaded based on the timezone you have selected.

How to Backdate Instagram Posts

If your Instagram feed is a bit of a mess, here’s how to backdate your posts to make it look like you’re an expert social media user.

To backdate posts, you’ll first need to download the free app called Repost for Instagram from the App Store. Once downloaded, open the app and sign in with your Instagram account details.

The next screen will show a list of your most recent photos and videos. For this example we’ll be backdating a photo, so tap on the one you want to repost.

A new screen will appear with an image preview, where you can see who posted it and when it was originally posted. You can then add filters if you want to alter its appearance. To go ahead and post it as-is, tap on the blue arrow icon in the top right corner of the screen.

You’ll then be prompted to write a caption and tag people in it if you wish (you can also skip this step by tapping Skip). Once you’ve filled in what you want, tap on Share at the top of the screen.
