In this article, I will discuss how to see when someone started following someone on Instagram.
At this very moment, there might be millions of people surfing on Instagram. They might be liking and commenting on a plethora of Instagram posts. Although many users use Instagram to connect with their peers and post their pictures and videos, some just use it for entertainment (lone profiles). Well, in general, there are different kinds of people with their perceptions on how they want to use Instagram. For instance, I use Instagram to chat with my friends and follow informative pages.
There is also a category of people on Instagram who have a habit of tracking other people’s activities. For example, they might be interested in what others are liking, what they are commenting on, whom they are following, etc. So, let’s discuss more how to see when someone started following someone on Instagram.

Instagram Has Discontinued Following Activity Tab
I’m not sure if you are aware of this fact, but Instagram has already discontinued the Following Activity Tab – a feature that lets people easily see which posts their friends and coworkers were liking on the platform – back in December 2019.
So what does it imply? It implies that Instagram has stopped notifying people about the activities of the other people they are connected with. This means no user can see or be notified about when someone starts following someone on Instagram.
According to Business Insider, the reason why Instagram removed the Following Activity Tab was that people weren’t using that feature much. Furthermore, they wanted to put a more simplistic interface instead.
Now you know that you cannot see when someone starts following someone solely by using Instagram. However, is there any way to work around this? Let’s discuss it below.
How to See When Someone Started Following Someone on Instagram
Now that Instagram has removed the ability to view the activity of other people via the Following Activity Tab, these are a couple of methods you can try to work around this.
1. You can try monitoring the activities of other people manually, but isn’t it a tedious task to do? Indeed, it is. If you go with this option, you would have to track the change in the number of people the user (whose activity you want to track) follows. Other than this, there’s nothing much you can do.
2. Use third-party services. Many third-party services claim to track the activities of Instagram users; however, they are not reliable and safe to use. Furthermore, I also don’t recommend using them.
Wrapping it up: So, at this point, you know that you cannot see when someone started following someone on Instagram. If it were the time before Dec 2019, you could have, but now you cannot check other activities. Instagram doesn’t allow this anymore. If you have any questions related to this topic, comment below.
