Does Chime Have Zelle? What You Need To Know [2024]

Does Chime Have Zelle

Let me save you time: Chime is not partnered with Zelle at this time.

However, there are several other options available to you, depending on your needs and preferences.

Chime is a digital bank that has attracted millions of customers and continues to grow. It offers some appealing benefits, including no monthly fees and free overdrafts.

We’ll be exploring the question of whether or not Chime offers Zelle integration in today’s article.

So read on to learn everything you need to know about Zelle and Chime!

Why Doesn’t Chime Have Zelle?

Chime is a wireless payment company that doesn’t have Zelle.

Chime is a neobank that is trying to compete with traditional banks such as Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One, and Bank of America.

Zelle was developed by American Express, BBVA Compass, Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, and Wells Fargo to offer instant money transfers as an answer to the rising competition from Chime, Cash App, Venmo, and other digital banks.

Chime offers its instant transfer service, Chime Pay, which allows users to transfer money to one another even if they don’t have a Chime account.

This feature may be viewed as a competitor to Zelle, a product created by traditional banks.

This helps to explain why Chime does not support Zelle money transfers, and why as of recently, Zelle customers of online banks cannot add their accounts and cards to the Zelle mobile app.

Chime does not offer Zelle integration with its banking app, which may be disappointing to users who are accustomed to using Zelle at other banks.

The functionality is no longer available for people trying to add Chime to their Zelle app.

Why Can’t I Use Zelle With Chime?

It can be frustrating when you try to use Chime with Zelle and it doesn’t work.

This helps to explain why Chime does not support Zelle money transfers, and why as of recently, Zelle customers of online banks cannot add their accounts and cards to the Zelle mobile app.

Although Chime never integrated Zelle into their banking app, users could still create a Zelle account by connecting their Chime debit card to the Zelle app.

In early 2021, Zelle stopped accepting new customers and updated its cards to comply with regulatory mandates.

When trying to add the Chime Debit Card, you get a message like “The card was declined by your bank or credit union. Please try another card or contact customer service, on the back of your debit card”.

Due to a change in Chime’s policies, you are no longer able to add your Chime card or update your old one.

Pay Anyone – Doesn’t require Zelle on Chime

Pay Anyone - Doesn’t require Zelle on Chime

Pay Anyone is a service that allows you to send money to another Chime member or any person with a U.S. bank account, regardless of whether they are a Chime member. It’s free and generally instant.

This type of transfer is instant and free. Recipients receive an email with a link to register their bank’s debit card, onto which the funds will be transferred.

Transfers are typically instant, but it’s possible there will be some delays occasionally.

There is also a limit of $2,000 or 15 transfers per month.

Here’s how to use the Pay Anyone Feature on Chime.

 1. Tap “Pay Anyone” to find the person or enter their $ChimeSign.

To send money to someone who does not have a Chime account, search your imported contacts for their email address or phone number, or enter it manually.

2. Enter the payment details.

3. Tap “Pay” to complete the transfer.

All Chime users will have access to their funds immediately.

Non-members will be directed to an online form where they can enter their debit card information and claim the money within 14 days.

Conclusion

Chime is not available on Zelle, as it is not among the banks that are part of the Zelle Network. Chime is a financial technology provider, not a bank.

The bank that works in partnership with Chime is The Bancorp Bank and Stride Bank, N.A.

You can find the name of your partner bank on the back of your Chime debit card.
